Please bookmark this page. We will be posting the names and biographies of additional Portfolio Review faculty each week and will not post our final list and schedule until April 19th. All schedules are subject to change. Following is a provisional review schedule for PSPF 2017:

New reviewers are scheduled right up until the event so check often and you’ll see additions. We will offer over 1200 reviews with many of the nation’s most influential photography professionals.
NOTE: All 4-day workshops end Thursday at 11:00am. This is an optional 2-hour wrap-up class, not included in the workshop fee. This allows workshop attendees to participate in Thursday’s portfolio reviews.

Anthony Bannon BioAnthony Bannon is a medalist in the history and criticism of photography from the Royal Academy of Photography in Great Britain. He is the emeritus director of the George Eastman Museum in Rochester, NY and the Burchfield Penney Art Center at SUNY Buffalo State. Forthcoming with Steidl Verdlag is Beatitude: The Beat Attitude: Photographs by Joey Tranchina and exhibitions with catalogs on photographs by John Wood and Mark Maio. . He is a trustee on the boards of the Photo Review and Artpark, the New York State Park for the arts in Lewiston on the Niagara Gorge. Suzee Barrabee BioSuzee is a freelance art Suzee spent the majority of her career at Goodby Silverstein & Partners. There, she worked on every major brand that passed through the agency doors – Polaroid, Adobe, Elizabeth Arden Fragrances, Nike, NBA, Saturn, Comcast, Princess Cruise Line and Chevrolet – to name a few. She is now a freelance Art and Print Producer and has been fortunate to work at Apple, Facebook, Salesforce and GS&P. She has had the pleasure of working with such diverse talent as Britney Spears and even an alligator. Dave Bett BioDave Bett is Creative Director for Columbia Records, a division of Sony Music. He is a Grammy-winning designer of music packaging for such artists as Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Patti Smith, Tori Amos, the Avett Brothers, and many more. He and the Sony art directors who report to him have worked with many great photographers, and they continue to seek out new talent to image the artists they design for. Reviewer Preference: In addition to commercial work, please show any motion/video and personal work. Aeriel Brown BioAeriel Brown is the Deputy Photo Editor at Bloomberg Business Week magazine. Prior to this assignment, she worked for Entertainment Weekly. She also did a brief stint at Harper's Bazaar as the deputy photo director. Between all of that, she also started a small magazine called WAX which focuses on art, culture and surfing. Marianne Campbell BioMarianne Campbell is a photography agent with offices in San Francisco and New York City. Her company has recently worked with h clients such as Oakley, Audi, duPont, Starbucks, Pfizer, RAM Trucks, Phillips 66, Clorox, SAP, Asics, Verizon, Method, Purina and Target.Reviewer Preference: Open to seeing motion samples in addition to still photography. David Fahey BioDavid Fahey is the Director of the Fahey Klein Gallery in Los Angeles. Fahey Klein is one of the most influential galleries in California. Roy Flukinger BioRoy Flukinger is the Curator Emeritus and recently retired Senior Research Curator of Photography for the Harry Ransom Center of The University of Texas at Austin. Beyond his current duties he also continues to work as an independent advisor, educator, curator, historian and author. Reviewer Preference: Open to seeing and discussing portfolios in most photographic genres that have been deliberately and seriously considered. Mollie Jannasch BioMollie Jannasch launched her career in the photo industry in New York City at Art + Commerce where she worked on everything from portfolio development to production. In 2008, Mollie founded Agency MJ, a Nashville-based agency that represents a select roster of high-end commercial photographers and directors from around the United States. Agency MJ’s photographers have worked on national campaigns for Toyota, Zipcar, Beats by Dre, Publix, Miller Coors, and Intel, among many others. Today, Mollie continues to operate a multi-faceted agency which has grown to provide commercial clients a full-service experience from pre-production to post, and everything in between. Patricia Lanza BioPatricia Lanza was the Director of Talent & Content for the Annenberg Space for Photography for 8 years. I have left this position to form my own organization for exhibition development,curation and consultation for art & photography. I am currently curating two exhibitions. I will have a photography exhibition on Van Gogh with Lynn Johnson at the Leica gallery in 2019 Pilar Law BioPilar's investigation of and involvement in all facets of the photo industry have contributed to her unique understanding of the processes, aesthetics and value of photography in today’s art market. Upon her return to Santa Fe seven years ago after living and working in the Bay Area and LA, Pilar founded Edition ONE Gallery on Canyon Road, a contemporary photography gallery with an inviting living-room atmosphere featuring the works of a hand-picked group of artists working in traditional and digital media. Alternating one-person-shows and themed exhibitions for the first seven years allowed Pilar to showcase and inform visitors about the diversity and talents of photographers selected from a world-wide pool. The work is exciting, the openings legendary, hosting photo-related events and portfolio reviews has expanded her stable of artists and their audience. Curatorial Vision/Mission: “Photography, from its beginnings, has been a medium of interrogation and change. One of the real challenges for fine art photography today is balancing traditional processes and photography’s established practitioners with the explosion of new methods, styles and works that bombard what was until recently a relatively select group of artists. As a curator and a gallerist, my contribution is to gather photographers from New Mexico and around the world who are engaged in all manner of photography, and present their works in a way that both honors their art, and informs established and next-generation collectors about the value of photography in this century.” Rebecca Morse BioRebecca Morse is Curator in the Wallis Annenberg Photography Department at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. Recent projects include Sarah Charlesworth: Doubleworld and Larry Sultan: Here and Home. She was previously Associate Curator at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) where she organized Amanda Ross Ho: Teeny Tiny Woman, Cai Guo-Qiang: Ladder to the Sky, Rodarte: States of Matter, The Artist’s Museum, and Florian Maier-Aichen. Upcoming projects include a thirty-year retrospective of the work of Thomas Joshua Cooper and Objects of Desire: Photography and the Language of Advertising that examines the ways in which artists have mined the tropes of commercial photography for their own work. She has written on Sarah Charlesworth, the evolving relationship between photography and sculpture, contemporary photography and the hotel, and photography’s changing role in contemporary art beginning in the 1980s. Robert Morton BioRobert Morton has worked in the world of book publishing for more than four decades for such publishers as Bantam, Time Life and over 25 years at Harry Abrams as Director of Special Projects. Currently, Morton works as an editor, agent, and consultant for photographers and artists seeking publication in books. In addition to helping to prepare presentations for consideration by publishers (selecting and sequencing photographs, deciding upon forms of presenting work, discussing desired formats and printing methods), Morton works with the artist and publisher to find and enlist authors for introductions and other texts. Reviewer Preference:Robert is interested mostly in seeing subject-based work of all kinds, especially book-worthy ideas, rather than abstract images or work of purely personal expression. Scott Nichols BioScott Nichols is the Director of The Scott Nichols Gallery located in downtown San Francisco. The gallery shows a combination of established, up and coming and contemporary photographers. Nichols, a Southern California native, has been a private dealer since 1980. He is considered one of the experts on Group f/64 and Brett Weston. The gallery opened in 1992 and houses one of the largest private collections of Brett Weston photographs as well as an extensive inventory of photographs by classic California photographers such as Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Dorothea Lange, Imogen Cunningham, Ruth Bernhard, Wynn Bullock, and William Garnett. Lisa Oropallo BioLisa Oropallo is the Director of Art Production at Digitas LBi servicing all of Digitas North America. Digitas has offices in NYC, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, Detroit & Atlanta. Digitas is primarily an Interactive and mobile agency with print components. As Director of Art Production at Digitas, Lisa has worked on most of the Agency accounts. Current Digitas accounts are American Express, Delta, Comcast, CVS, Dunkin Brands, PPG, Accenture, Trans Union, KAO, and Whirlpool. Deirdre Read BioDeirdre Finzer Read is a Deputy Visual Research Editor for Oprah Daily, O, The Oprah Magazine: Quarterly, & Prevention at Hearst Magazines. She also contributes to O, The Oprah Magazine's Instagram account. She worked on staff as a Photo Editor Specialist at National Geographic Magazine, a Supporting Picture Editor at Time Magazine, and an Assistant Photo Editor at World Picture News. Molly Roberts BioMolly Roberts is a curator, photography editor, and educator living in the metropolitan Washington, DC area. Roberts was recently completed a prestigious year-long Residency as a Knight Fellow in the Visual Communication Department at Ohio University. Roberts was a Senior Photography Editor at National Geographic magazine. She led the photography department at Smithsonian magazine for 16 years, bringing recognition to the magazine as a National Press Photographers association award winning visuals team for multiple years. Clare Vander Meersch BioClare is a founding member of the Magenta Foundation for the arts (magentafoundation.org), and continues to serve on their board, with particular devotion to the Flash Forward competition celebrating emerging photographers—now worldwide. Jigisha Bouverat BioJigisha Bouverat, owner/agent of JBC, was the Director of Art Production for TBWAChiatDay for 20+ years during which she managed and mentored teams of Art Producers responsible for revolutionizing the creative and business practices in the industry. Now as an agent, she brings a unique level of experience and perspective from both sides of the business. JBC is a collective with a shared commitment to the art and commerce industry. Before coming to the Griffin Museum she spent fifteen years creating and operating her own photography gallery, wall space creative, closing it in 2020. Having a career spanning many paths, Crista has landed at the Griffin to assist the executive director in the day to day operations of the museum. Her background in science, business and creative arts helps Crista provide a solid background for supporting the Griffin’s mission of showcasing creativity and the museum’s photo community. Her gallery, wall space, supported emerging and mid career artists with exhibitions, talks and events and participated in art fairs around the country, as well as maintained an office space for client meetings. As an internationally known gallery, Crista worked with clients all over the world and represented national and international artists. In addition to wall space’s special event and exhibition schedule, it hosted a series of artist lectures, studio and community events. Ms. Dix, wall space and the artists who were part of its success believed in giving back, creating a charitable giving program called Life Support. In ten years Life Support worked with over 400 artists, donating over $80,000 to charitable foundations Doctors Without Borders, Direct Relief and Habitat for Humanity. Natasha Ritsma BioNatasha Ritsma, director and curator at the Schingoethe Center at Aurora University, has an MA from the University of Illinois and a PhD from Indiana University. She has curated numerous photography exhibitions featuring both highly celebrated artists such as Jeffery Wolin and Steve Schapiro as well as emerging talent. Since moving to Los Angeles he has taught at UCLA and USC, written a column on photography for the LA Times, and served as Director of the California Museum of Photography. His most recent books are Chuck Close: Photographer (Prestel, 2014), A Democracy of Imagery (Steidl, 2016), and a completely revised and up-dated edition of his 1994 book co-authored by Joel Meyerowitz, Bystander, A History of Street Photography, published by Laurence King in 2017. In Fall 2018, Harper Collins is publishing his Vivian Maier: The 35-Millimete Color Photography. Suzanne Darmory BioSuzanne has over 25 years of international experience championing Fortune 500 brands and articulating their vision through marketing and advertising initiatives. Suzanne leads the integrated marketing and creative strategy at Jackson Hewitt with a customer-centric approach to help drive growth through compelling and impactful strategic brand solutions. In addition to founding her own advertising agency (The AGNCY), she spent most of her career at world-class companies in New York (Arnold, Deutsch, Grey, JWT, Moxie, Mcgarrybowen, Ogilvy, R/GA, Zeta) and in London (Bates UK, Euro RSCG, Imagination, Ogilvy & Mather). Angelika Hala Bio Angelika Hala has been the New York photo editor and producer for the stern Magazine group for some 20 years, and commissions, researches and licenses photography for a wide range of features from documentary, sports, science and news to portrait and fashion, working with established photographers as well as developing talent. She participated in multiple portfolio reviews across the United States and internationally, and was juror for The Fence/Photoville and ZEKE Awards; and mentor at the Eddie Adams Workshops. Nicolas Jimenez BioNicolas Jimenez is the director of photography of the prestigious French daily newspaper Le Monde. In 2005, when Le Monde decided to become a major actor of the photo industry he became national photo editor until 2008. Then he became the head of the photo department. Le Monde is now one of the three biggest photo producer in french speaking press. Catriona Ni Aolain BioCurrently Catriona is the Director of Photography for People / EW / Health titles. Previously she worked as the Director of Photography at Men's Journal and ESPN The Magazine. Jan Potts BioCorden|Potts Gallery, located in San Francisco, has specialized in the work of outstanding contemporary photographers since 2009. Our gallery is located in 49 Geary Street, a building housing about 15 galleries, including some of San Francisco's most prestigious. Both Elizabeth Corden and Jan Potts, the gallery’s co-founders and co-directors, have been curating photographic exhibits since the 1990s. Renee Rhyner BioRenee Rhyner has been an agent working with commercial artists for over twenty years with offices in Dallas and New York City.
